SERVPRO is Ready for National Prepareathon Day - Are You?

4/30/2020 (Permalink)

SERVPRO ready to help preparedness information Available 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, SERVPRO of Benton, Jasper, Newton & Southern Lake Counties is prepared for the unpredictable.

National Prepareathon Day on April 30th reminds us that disasters happen suddenly. Being prepared needs to happen now, not later.

Natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods or wildfires require us to make decisions with little or no warning. Nothing was more evident of that fact than the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unprecedented events mean we are often not prepared for events out of our control. Do you have an emergency plan in place with your family in the event of an emergency situation? Does your business have a SERVPRO Emergency READY Profile on file with us? (If not, contact us to get one set up today -  (219) 779-7577)

What Can You Do To Observe National PrepareAthon! Day?

  • Have a an emergency plan in place for your home or business and make sure your family or employees know where it is and what to do (be sure to include your pets)
  • Keep important papers in one easily accessible location
  • Plan escape routes and practice what to do in each emergency situation
  • Make sure emergency contact numbers are programmed into everyone's phone and teach kids who to call in an emergency and vital information such as your address

FEMA's Prepareathon encourages people and communities to take action to prepare themselves against disasters. They aim to increase the number of people who:

  • Understand which disasters could affect their community
  • Know what to do to stay safe
  • Take action to increase preparedness
  • Improve their ability to recover from a disaster
